5/20/2012: Elfin Forest Time Trial
The Elfin Forest time trial is part of a long-standing set of club
favorites. The approximately 7-mile route starts at the
intersection of Elfin Forest and Calistoga Way, traces part of the
World Famous Saturday Ride along Elfin Forest Road and Harmony Grove
Road, and finishes just before the T-intersection at Kauana Loa Dr at
the Saturday ride sprint point. It’s a challenging course that never
seems to be on flat ground. The first half mile is uphill and
includes a short punch of a hill just before about a two-mile
descent. When you hit the left bend and Elfin Forest becomes Harmony
Grove you'll start heading up again to climb about 300' over the next
four miles to the finish point.

8:00am - Meet / sign- Panera Bread, 1935 Calle Barcelona Carlsbad, CA 92009
Depart 8:10 to the start/finish point - Elfin Forest and Calistoga Way

First Start Time: 9:00am

then ride over to the start/finish point at Elfin Forest Road and
Calistoga Way in time to sign in anyone who wants to meet there.
After the event we’ll meet for coffee and story telling.

Point System
Points will be awarded for placings in each category for the overall
series. 10 points will be awarded to the winner of each category, then
8, 6, 5, 4, 3 and 2 points for places 2-7. All riders will receive at
least 1 point for participating.

Categories
The three categories are designed to keep similarly-paced riders
together. “A” is very fast (generally category 1-2 and fast 3s). “B”
is still a quick bunch (generally, career 3-4 riders). And the “C”
group is designed for riders who enjoy Swami’s club rides but don’t
normally compete. If you’re not sure in which category you should
ride, err on the side of the faster group. You can always ease up
until the next category catches you.
